Human Rights Commission Celebrates the International Day for Human rights on 10th of Dec ![]() HRC issues a statement on the International Day for Human Rights: On this day, 10of Dec 2008, the world celebrates the 60th anniversary of the International Day for Human Rights. On the 10th of Dec 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the UN was issued, recognizing in its introduction and –thirty articles- "the inherent dignity, and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world" and that "everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status". Whereas the Human Rights Commission of Saudi Arabia participates in this day, would remind the international conscience of the importance of applying what the declaration had stated, which is considered a human achievement and a turning point towards international solidarity as a result of positive interaction between cultures, civilizations and religion to form a umbrella of 'Human Rights'. This umbrella coincides mainly with what the basic human nature, and the religions, had called for in one message calling for the worship on God and organizing the relation between the individuals within an equal society, based on Almighty's say " O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you" Al-Hujaraat. The graceful initiative launched by The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz- that took place in the UN Headquarters in NY on Wed 12th Nov 2008- which called on all religions' followers to meet and dialogue, is a continuity of the International Dialogue held in Madrid, and to the Islamic Dialogue Conference previously held in Makkah. This initiative is obvious evidence to the Kingdom's stand and believes of the importance of the dialogue between cultures, religions and various civilizations, as the main means to support and spread peace and stability all over the world. It is also a reassurance of the tolerance, Islam carries out, which promotes peace to conclude the message -all profits before Mohammad (PBUH)- had received, and confirms Almighty's say :" The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His Messengers. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His Messengers." And they say: "We hear, and we obey, (we seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys." Al-Baqarah. The method King Abdulla Bin Abdul Aziz had drawn through his word to the UN, in which he confirmed both equality and tolerance principles saying " focusing throughout history on the points of disputes between various religions and cultures' followers had lead to fanaticism and to eruption of devastating wars where many bloods were shed.. it is time to learn from the past's cruel lessons and meet on ethics and high morals in which we all believe". This method is the communication bridge between nations to build a future of justice, security and decent living, where injustice, fear and poverty is overruled, and peaceful collaboration between nations is brought about to avoid war sufferings, preserve blood, maintain justice and archive safety and security for the human souls. Whereas the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which methodizes temperance and moderation in all its communication, joins the rest of the world in celebrating this day, substantiates that it is calling for, with fairness, discarding hatred and denounces race clarification, and blood shedding regardless of the reasons. The Kingdom also rejects occupation policy which violates nations' sovereignty, and stresses on those nations' rights to freedom, independence and integrity. It also declares its continuous commitment to all national and international legal agreements and treaties, which it had signed, preserving the right to reservation against some of those agreements' articles that do not comply with the Islamic Law ' Sharea'. At the same time, the Kingdom is putting in consideration maintaining the rights of all the society's category in the framework of justice and equality which, the Kingdom considers, the way to protect the country, its sovereignty and stability |
