Exclamation senegal law

my father was arrested whilst in senegal for being the only white guy there and he was talking to a few local guys who commited a crime so he was arrested and charged 6 months ago and we have not spoke directly to him since then but we have had contact from a local who says in court he was found innocent of the supposed crime but we have to pay £2000 pounds to have him released but we have already paid for the lawyer and his food whilst in prison and fresh water and its cost me around 5 thounsend pounds so far and i am a single parent are they allowed to do this and where can i get help to end this if i dont pay he will be sent to prison for a number of years and he was found INNOCENT so why do i have to pay compensation ?

What is your citizenship? You might have your embassy intervene...
