Confused willful misconduct

I knew i couldn't call out or be late any more but my neice with her mother showed up on my doorstep stating that she was homeless and wanted me to take care of my 4 yr.old neice.Of course, I did not hesitate to take in my neice. However,I had to call out because I had to get her situated and adjust to the situatuin myself.ie school, moving her etc.Needless to say I was suspended with intent to terminate.I am now trying to collect my unemployment but I was fired under willfull misconduct.I strongly disagree with this.I did appeal and it was denied and now I am appealing again.I need to know how to write the letter of appeal and if there are lawyers that will take my case for free.
