criminal record disclosure
Is it illegal not to disclose a criminal background on a job application for a job with the city? In reading about expungment, I have seen it said in a few places that a person MUST disclose a criminal background for a government job even if the record was expunged but not for a private company. I was wondering why? Is it a law? Can I get in trouble if I didn't disclose?

Check with your local DA but in many states you need not disclose if it is expunged--it is as if it never happened.
