Confused Can an employer threaten to firer you or firer you over a doctors excused absentee

I missed 5 days of work in all, the first 3 where over an inner ear, and sinus infections. Then on the 3rd day at about 5:30pm I had a coughing attack that caused my back to spasm and tighten up to where I had to go to the ER. and be treated. Then with the follow-up to my doctor he made me misses another 2 days totaling 5 in all, all by doctor excuses. I was called into my boss’s office and told basically the next time I call off sick or not I would be fired for it.

They cannot fire you for genuine illness.

They would have to argue that you are not being reasonable and are misusing the time off.
