Do I have a case?

Hello,

I had an issue arise and I am really not sure if I have a case or not. I was
wondering if you could help in any way.

Here is the situation:

I handed in my resignation letter on November 30th to my office manager with
and last day of January 1, 2008. I then took a scheduled vacation out of the
country. Upon my return I had heard my employer was not happy at all. I was
going to work the following two weeks until Dec 21st. On Thurs Dec 13th we
received our salary checks and everyone else received a Christmas except
me. When I asked the question why their response was they paid for my school
(which is a benefit in the employee handbook) and I went to Miami (on a
business trip). I then said I would not return to work and would be taking
six days of personal time (which I have two weeks that I had never taken)
due to personal issues. I have just received an email asking I return all
company items first thing Monday morning and the word is that they are going
to fire me via email Monday so they don't have to pay out the personal time
and the holiday time. Can they do this? Can they fire me after a
resignation?

Do I have a case?

Please advise

They normally have to pay accrued and unpaid vacation time but don't have to give you other time.

Once you give notice, they can ask you to finish before the date you selected.
