Living in California, I was going to school in New York and I wanted to be transferred to a hub out there. Then, we didn't have and HR manager in our facility so I went through my manager. I told him I wanted to transfer and he said not a problem. So I turned in all necessary paperwork and when it was time for me to leave, I left for school in NYC. I left August 31st of that year. When I called to check on my transfer two weeks later, I found out that my manager terminated me on July. 31st when I worked there until August 31st. And UPS wanted me to pay back the money that they paid me for August. I was pissed off. I had no intention of quitting that job, it was my understanding that I was going to be transferred. Is this considered wrongful termination?

They cannot possibly take funds back for time you did work there.
But they can dismiss you unfortunately. You could try to argue they made an agreement and you relied on it --but not sure we see the damages here as you were moving anyway. |
