My Daughter needs help..

My daughter was hired as a temp for two weeks at a company. After one week on the job,and after much praise from her boss, she was suddenly told that the regular girl was coming back early and she didn't need to come the next week. Two or three weeks later, the Temp agency called my daughter and told her that the company she had worked for wanted to hire her permanently. She was thrilled. When she got to work the fisrt day, her boss told her that because the company had found her through the temp agency, she would have to work for 90 days as a temp employee and then she would become a regular employee. They wanted her to work for them permanently. Her boss even discussed with her the possibility of the company helping pay my daughter's tuiton if she went back to school. Day before yesterday a woman came into the office and asked about applying for the job they had just given my daughter. Yesterday they told my daughter that the owner of the company had decided that he didn't want to have a temp for so long(even though he had signed a contract with the temp agency) and Friday would be her last day. She was devastated. It sounds very fishy to me. She had turned down another position for this one. Is this a breach of a verbal contract and can she do anything about it?

Well it is certainly odd business but not illegal normally. Unless your daugter relied on the offer and incurred certain costs or quit some other job it would be hard to hold them liable for damages.
