Default Termination because I would not sign papers -- South Dakota

I'm from South Dakota. I was terminated because I would not sign a disciplinary write-up form or submit to treatment for anger management. The history is, a female co-worker is verbally & physically abuse. She has been reported to Human Resources several times by myself and others for her actions and outbursts.
In the latest incident, while minding my own business, she struck me with a product we manufacture, then told me to "get the "f" out of the way", which I responded, "f" off. There were several witnesses, including the group leader. It was noted to HR that I was in know way provoking her. But since I said, those 2 word, "f"off, I'm considered hostile and was presented with the write-up and mandate to attend anger mangement therapy. I feel signing the forms and attending therapy would be accepting responsiblilty for her actions and temperment.

On this note, I have no ill feelings towards lesbians, she is a lesbian, and I feel the company is afraid of consequences for terminating or disciplining her.

It may not feel like it now, but they did you a favor. Do you really want to work for such a poorly managed company?

Be thankful they cut you loose so you can find a more professional, grown up place to work.

File for unemployment.

I highly doubt their decision had anything to do with her sexual orientation.
