Unhappy fired

hi our boss called me and my daughter to come back to work for him with a raise in pay.so we did i worked yesterday june 6th 2007.later that day when i was off he calls me and says im sorry but im going to have to let you and your daughter go because his manager was going to quit if he kept us .surely this is wrong.we did not do anything wrong is this really a legal reason to fire us. thank you emma

He can fire you but you could try to sue in small claims or other court for any costs or damages that you incurred starting to work and then being immediately let go. You did rely on their offer.
