Wrongful termination (terminated for violating HIPPA)
My employeers terminated me for violating Hippa and being in a patients profile this patient was a donor patient. Under Hippa which they are stating I violated when a patient becomes a donor they no longer fall under HIPPA laws and are under public domain law. If this is the grounds they are using to fire me do I have a wrongful termination case?

I wish to inform you that if when you were terminated you were not violating any law then your termination under HIPPA is a wrongful termination. In USA there is employment at will in many states and therefore you may be terminated but terminating by giving false reasons may amount to wrongful termination. You may file a complaint with EEOC.

Firstly, it's not "Hippa". It's HIPAA.
Secondly, being a donor does not automatically preclude a person from their privacy. It's amazing you work in the medical field and do not know this. No, you were not "wrongfully" terminated, and yes, you did, indeed, violate HIPAA'S privacy rules. |
