Not Keeping Promise

In NW FL,I ran for political office, defeated in first primary. A candidate in the gen election for the same office called and set an appt at friend's home. I took friend with me as witness The man made an oral contract with me asking me to talk to people and make phone calls on his behalf asking my supporters' to vote for him; in return Id receive next county level job that occurred, which is Dir Curr & Instruc, which I am the most qualified and certified of here The meeting and agreement was Sept 2008. I did as he asked, and spent personal money using phone service company sending out hundreds of phone calls to districts of my supporters asking support for this man. This man also asked, and my friend and I did, worked 2 separate voting precincts holding signs all day on election day. He won, and could not had it not been for my help and my supporters' following thru with my request. It is nearing the time (June 30th) and this man is now saying “he can’t promise me this job” I wanted to say, but haven’t yet, “you have already promised me the job!”I have 3 witnesses to the event that heard everything during that meeting, and many people, even his own grown daughter, whom he told he was going to give me the director’s job as soon as it was available. What can I do to get him to keep his promise, BEFORE the Asst Supt succeeds in convincing him to give her sister this job that I have worked SO hard for years to get?

...well its true he cannot promise that job and that agreement if it exists is void as against public policy.

But I suppose you can keep bugging him until he does something to reward you for all your hard work.
