I was injured on the job and the human resources department decided that it would be better for me to take short term disability instead of filing for workmans compensation. I agreed, my doctor did not, anyway I did not want the company to get angry with me. My short term took a turn for long term and I was let go from the company at that time. My doctors could not find the problem until the end of my short term and had kept in touch with my employer throughout the whold scenario. Workers compensation refused to pay for my expenses to have surgery, so did my medical, I had to obtain a lawyer, workers compensation finally paid for my hospital and doctors bills. Today I am a misplaced worker trying to find any kind of work I can even if not in my field. Was this a legal move on my companys part?

Firing you solely for illness is normally not legal.
You could consult your nearest Department of Labor office to briefly discuss the issue with them first...you may also want to ask the company to put what is happening in writing and explain to them that you may have attorneys review the situation...try speaking to a higher level of management about the issue-- |
