Default Easy question about how to cancel a contract

Hi, First of all thanks for this forum. I have a question, my girlfriend is working in NYC and she would like to quite her job.
How she should communicate it?. By post? Email? FAX? There is any standard form?

For your info she should communicate at least two months in advance. She already said but she would like to have something to prove it.

Many thanks in advance,
Alvaro

The contract if one exists almost always says how. ---otherwise hand deliver it.

She can give notice any way she pleases. It's odd you answered your own question.

The best way to give notice, naturally, is in person. But that is not always the most viable option. She could also tender her written letter of resignation.

Don't email or fax etc. unless you confirm receipt. You want to be sure that the receiving party has it.

Thanks for your answer.

Long story, finally after she notice in person that she wanted to leave on Jan, the company fired her and she will get the sallary for one extra month (October). So she won't need to work the next 3 and 1/2 month.
Fair enough for us because now she will have holliday till Jan. Maybe she could have received more money but whe is not going to fight for it.

Thanks for your time.

This is a common occurrence. Give notice and the employer terminates. At least she can get unemployment now, as she gave her notice in good faith and the company decided to fire her earlier than her notice gave.

They would have been smarter to let her work out her notice. It would have saved them money in the long run.
