Dental Employment Questions
I worked for this dentist for 14 months in Florida. During my time there, I put up with his nasty remarks, sexual comments, he told me to shut up in fron tof people...etc. He asked me mulitple times to commit insurance fraud because "times are tough". He NEVER washed his hands before or after a pt, used contaminated gloves daily, had open containers of liquor at all times in the office, ordered mass quantities of pain pills and stomach pills from our vendors for personal use, and violated HIPPA numerous times in which our pts personal info was handed out to strangers. I told him many times that these instances were illegal in which his response to me was that I was wrong. On my last day there, he told me that I didn't know what I was doing and he was right. I asked him how many insurance claims classes he had taken and he said NONE. I told him that I've taken 2 and both teachers stated what he was doing was a federal offense. 6 months prior I told him that his new assistant was a daily drug user and would come to work high and hung over. She would even smoke pot on her lunch break. He seemed unfazed by my info like he didn't care. Well on my last day when we had the final talk of the insuarnce, he went to this girl in front of me and said guess what tasha tried to do when you started? She told me all this stuff about you. I was standing there in shock and she started crying ofcourse. I looked at him and told him that was unprofessional and that I had only told him those thing sto protect his license! Which by the way, he has never taken a single continuing credit to keep. At the end of the day, he called me and the assistant in the room and fired me in fron of her stasting that I was insubordinate. After I left he kept sending me text messages like a boyfriend who had been dumped. Needless to say, at this point I am no longer his employee and told him just how I felt about his unethical way of practicing dentistry.
My questions: DO I turn him in to the state for having alcohol in the office, taking pills, violating HIPPA and OSHA, and having no CE credits in 15 years? Also, is he justified in termintaing me and will this prohibit my unemployment claim? If I turn him in, what are the consequences for me? |
