And I would like to collect unemployment. Now, my ex-boss has already stated that he will not let me collect unemployment. First I'm in SE PA and was fired after I yelled a couple of profanities at my ex-boss because I was repeatedly belittled by him while he was intoxicated at work. After I yelled at him, I left the building to cool off. At that point I was called and told I was fired. Now I have filed a claim for unemployment in which I explained the entire thing. The problem is that this man in an alchoholic and I'm sure he will lie about what happened. It is a very small company (7 employees) and all other employees know he has this problem. Right now I am very worried about being turned down for unemployment. Is there anything I can do if I get denied? Just to note, I had repeatedly brought this up with the office manager. I said to him that I was not going to take the abuse much longer. I worked there 3 years. What can I do or am I screwed?

really? just like that. A known alchoholic who verbally abuses his employees. HE was drunk at work, not me. If they deny me, should I even try for an appeal? Do I not have any chance to collect? Is there nothing in my favor?

You have too big problems
A. You yelled at your Boss at work! B. You basically walked off job. They are free to contest unemployment on both those issues which are valid reasons to deny. Your Boss's drinking problem is not even an issue here. Your actions are. Sorry

So basically an employer may verbally abuse his employees all he wants. But when one of his employees has a mental lapse from the constant verbal bullying, he is fired. I couldn't go report it to a higher authority. He is the owner. It just seems wrong that he can not be held responsible for the verbal abuse.
Oh Well, thanks for the input. Maybe McDonalds is hiring .....prob not though.......nobody is
