Can I sue for wrongful termination? What my options are?
I was wondering what my options are?
I was laid off a week before our shop shut down before the holidays! I received a call from my job saying that the christmas party was going to be cancelled due to the bad weather! so upset at this i changed my name on face book indicating that the company had record sales this year and i didn't even get a christmas party or bonus all i got was laid off! I received an email form the owner of my shop saying he was very insulted by what i had put up there! and that i owed him a apology! On my lay off papers it said i am scheduled to return to work on a certain day! if they dont call me back! or call back people with less seniority then me because of this do i have any grounds to sue? |

The short answer is it depends on your state. If you are in an "at-will" state, they can term someone for whatever reason they seem fit as long as it is not discriminatory or blantant retaliatory nature.

No one is truly anonoymous on internet. People are fired more often than you think for internet postings. The firing was legal and your lucky they didnt take legal action against you.

While technically true (because anyone can sue anyone for anything), a libel suit wouldn't get very far if the OP's statements were true. From his post, they apparently were.
