Is this fair?

I was fired for not showing up when i had documentation stating i was in the emergency room with my nephew. So i called and my boss told me that there was another issue. The issue was that $20 was missing from the register that 4 people all used that day yet i was the only one that isn't working and that they were going to check the cameras its already a week later. So I was wondering if that was legal and what i should do about it. Because I feel that one its slander because there calling me a thief and im not one. Also the fact that i was the only just blammed for something i didn't do everyone is still working even my boss who was also there using the register that day.

Ok so let me get this straight. You were accused of stealing $20 from a register you did not even have access to on this particular day? This makes no sense and they terminated you for it or because you missed a day of work?

I don't follow either...what actually happened to cause the termination?
