Wrongfull Termination?
Im a Private Security Guard in Arizona, which I believe is an at-will State (sucks for me).
I was called by my Main Supervisor on Wednesday to report to a meeting in one of the Buildings I do Security in. At the meeting I was told that a situation had occurred in one of the courtrooms sometime between Monday evening after 5pm and 7am Wednesday morning (Tuesday was a holiday/i work 4pm-Midnight). The buildings Security Supervisor (Doesn't work for our company) had all ready had a meeting with the other 2 guards that worked during that time, though they had a meeting together while Myn had been separate. In my meeting where I, the Buildings Security Supervisor, My Main Supervisor, and the Security Company's Branch Manager. The meeting was the basic interrogation thing you would suspect, where you here during this time/this person says you did it/blah blah. I really didnt worry to much because the floor it occurred on was one that my shift doesn't patrol, and there are cameras on every hallway/entrance/elevator. Although I did find it strange that neither My Supervisor or the Branch Manager said anything at all during the conversation. Since I have Wednesday and Thursdays off, I Didn't return to work until Friday at 4pm, at which time I was told that I was to be sent home IF I had shown up, and that I couldn't work until I had a meeting at the Branch office Monday (today), and that he was not allowed to tell me any more then that. I told the Shift Supervisor that I was very upset about this, that the situation was being Pinned on me, and that I would be Informing the Branch Office about this on Monday and request that they Conduct an Investigation into the actions of the Main Supervisor on the matter (I had been told on Thursday by a fellow Employee that the Main Supervisor had been telling coworkers that because of a long talk she had with me after Wednesdays meeting, she believed I was the one who did it, this conversation never took place as I was asked to leave with them still all in the office, which can also be seen on the Camera Footage). I left, and set up the appointment for today. During the weekend I had recieved calls from several coworkers that the Main Supervisor was now informing people that I had set off a fire alarm that had gone off on Monday night (Yet another thing that can be found to be False per the Camera Footage). And that she was requesting I be terminated. A few points: I consider myself to be a very good employee, have called off 3 times in a year and a half of being there, never late, always willing to do overtime and help the Clients with anything they need, also the lead trainer for my Post and help to Update the Post Orders with the Branch Office. The Main Supervisor is very good friends with both of the other 2 guards, has worked with one of them for over 8 years. There were Mock-Trials going on on the floor in question the weekend before the incident. I believe what happened in the Courtroom could of been from then If the courtroom was not used on Monday. There is absolutely NO proof of any wrong doing by me. Its impossible. I didnt do it, and as i stated, there is an extensive Camera System in the building, which would prove me innocent if I can get the Security Company to Demand they look at it form the Client (sheriffs department). I have proof that I wasnt even In the building at the time the fire alarm went off. I and two other Guards where in a parking garage providing after-hours exit to a vehicle (we have a receipt with the time on it) and then we conducted a patrol of the Garage. During this Patrol is when we were notified about the Alarm. In order to have me removed/terminated, my main Supervisor would of had to written a report requesting it, we have it drilled into us that ALL reports written are Legal Documents, since she would be lieing on this report, would it not be purgery/deemed illegal. (Illegal action by supervisor being one of the basis for Wrongfull Termination.) Also, would the fact that she started accusing me of other things, to many coworkers, after I stated to the Shift Supervisor that I would try to have her Investigated be considered a Hostile Workplace/Be covered on Whistle Blower? The company I work for is known for screwing Guards over with no proof of them having done anything wrong. I help support my Mother and Brother and live paycheck to paycheck, and am now out 3 days pay, which will likely turn into a week lost/more then likely Termination. It would also ruin my chances of being employed by the Juvenile Detention Center or Adult Corrections. If Im not terminated, is there anything I could do to get my exact Post back and be compensated for time lost? Being removed from that contract and placed somewhere else would lose me $3/Hr, and so I wouldnt be able to keep the job, I would also lose my Apartment which I got because it was 10 minute walking distance from work. (No car) Thank you for any suggestions anyone can provide. Ill be posting an Update as soon as I return from the meeting. |
