I just had a quick question. I just recently graduated in May with a BA in Radio and Television adn have been looking for a job. I took an interviewing class before so I know how to interview before you start saying that. I have ok work experience and great references with minsters and mortican. But people are not hiring in Ohio or anywhere. One person told me they won't hire me because I have a college degree and this job would be boring for me. IS this right? Can employers not hire you because you're very educated? Thinking about either moving or going back for another degree. What is right reason employer won't hire you? What is wrong reason for not being hired? I wnat to work and have to support my son whose dad doesn't pay support for him and 4 other kids he has and the system is no help. Just curuous

What job were you interviewing for when they thought you might be bored, and what kinds of jobs generally have you been seeking?

In my field of broadcasting. Can't do retail have oestoartithis and can't stand for long periods of time. That and have no one to watch my son. I also applied for marketing but they wnat you to use your own car and gas is too high for that. Tried stuff with computers but might have to go back for another degree for web design. but anything that i know i can do. My friend and I went to 2 job fairs and they told us both were too over educated for postions in banking, retail, insrurance and maufactuing.

You might try a temp agency that can get you in and then you can see some companies and jobs etc. that may fit.
Or perhaps a good emplyment agency that can help match your skills. There really has to be some fit for you. Any education that is rigorous can be broadly used in many jobs. My sister had the same issue--took 7 months, hang in there!!! |

It may just be a case that employers may figure they would have to pay you more than they are willing to offer for the position available. I know that is a terrible reason, but its a possibility.
Chances there is a piece of the puzzle you are missing when interviewing for your positions... |
