Today I was let go due to the company invoking it's right to employment and non-employment. I live in Pennsylvania.
Here is an excerpt from an email sent company wide (approx 125 staff members) in early July 08: On the sales team, there was a tie between xxxx xxxxx and xxxx xxxxx. To break the tie they each had to pick a number between 60 and 75. Whoever picked the number which was closest to Dennis Brennans age won. Congrats to xxxx xxxx! Dennis we all feel bad for you, but dont worry, as you get older bus rides become free. Most of the staff in the company are in the 20's or 30's, I'm 49. Do I have a case? |

Well that is a bit confusing. What was their reasoning for your termination? The whole email thing can be considered degrating. If you are seriously seeking your options, contact your local Department of Labor office.

Unfortunately in most cases the "at-will" protects a company from most wrong-doing. While it is a terrible situation, your options of unlawful termination are limited. There may be some repercussions regarding the emails you described. The Department of Labor will be your best resource.
Unemployment should be an easy thing to obtain. |

It's a few hours later and I'm somewhat just pissed at the way it was handled and for whatever reason at the time, I felt the email was out of line and kept it for what is now, a payback??? Thanks again |

Not really, it may be considered as a purposely degrading, public announcement used to imtimidate or degrade someone. Talk to the Dept. of Labor.
