Angry boss giving out employee personal info

I was let go at work due to personal reasons. Now, I am hearing from my exwife very detailed information regarding why I was let go that was only discussed between my boss and I behind closed doors. The only other person that knows is my wife and clearly, she wouldn't tell a soul. I know that my boss has told my ex or else his wife did. What can I do? Is this legal?

If they say anything factually untrue you could sue for defamation etc., but they can tell what happened and they can give their opinions unfortunately.
