AMO Complete MoisturePLUS Recall
The FDA posted on 05/29/2007 a warning about AMO (Advanced Medical Optics) products for lens cleaning. In particular, the FDA informed healthcare professionals and consumers who wear soft contact lenses of a recall of Complete MoisturePlus Multi-Purpose Solution.
The reason for this recall are reports of eye infections from a parasite, Acanthamoeba keratitis. There is now a confirmed link between MoisturePlus. This has been confirmed by the CDC. Acanthamoeba keratitis is very dangerous. The parasite can cause vision loss with some patients requiring a corneal transplant or blindness. |
