Confused Anything illegal happen?

I was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago by a doctor friend of mine. I had no insurance at the time b/c I had just moved to a new city and was looking for a job. The doctor told me I needed chemotherapy and that I should get it immediately; he gave me my pathology report to take with me to give to my new dr. I went to a lot of oncologists to get 2nd opinions and find someone to Rx the chemotherapy but no one would even see me without medical insurance. I even went to hospital emergency rooms and gave them my pathology report and told them my condition, but they turned me away, telling me it was not an emergency. I applied for Medicaid and was awaiting approval, but after 2 weeks, and no approval, and no treatment, I was freaking out. I went back to my doctor friend and broke down crying- I didn't know what to do. I thought I was going to die. He said that if I didn't tell anyone, he had figured out a way to get me treated: I would fake an illness in the ER. When they asked for my dr.'s name, I would give them his name and then they would call him and he would tell them to admit me. Once I was admitted, he could Rx me the chemotherapy and then emergency Medicaid would be given to me.
My question is: Is this illegal? I am writing a book about my experiences and I don't want my doctor to get in trouble and I don't want to get in trouble either.
Any help is appreciated.
