W9 form for online parttime work while on H1b visa

Hello,

I am on H1b Visa and working for the client. I am on W2 to my company.

Recently, I have started some online testing activity. I get paid based on the testing I do. Now, if payment is beyond $500, they are asking to file Form W9 before I get the payment.

Now, my question is, if I am on H1b Visa, will it be OK to file W9 form for this online testing activity?

Or is this illigal to do it as I am not the employee of that testing company and I should not do anything for them and get paid?

Please clarify.

I wish to inform you that while on H1B visa you are only allowed to legally work for the employer on whose petition you have been granted the H1B visa. You cannot undertake online testing activity for another employer and get paid for it. The Form W9 is for independent contractors and other people who work for themselves and you cannot take such an activity while on H1B visa.
