Thumbs Up H1B and H4 Visa Taxation

Hello

This forum is helpful.

I am in H1B and my dependent wife in H4. Last year i had to file taxes, and did some research.

First you need to find if you are a Resident or Non Resident, based on Substantial Presence Test.

Link for Substantial Presence Test Calculator.

Substantial Presence Test - Tax Calculator

If you are a Non Resident, you have to File Form 1040NR.

Also you need to be aware of Dual Status, First year choice for H1B tax filing.

For H4 dependent with no SSN, you need to apply for Form W-7 ITIN.

We did our H1B, H4 joint tax filing at [www.VisaTaxes.com]

Hope you find the post helpful!
