OUTDATED GREEN CARD + US CITIZEN FATHER
Hello everyone,
I've lived in US for ten years 1997-2007, after marring and moving for 3 years abroad I would like to see if I am eligible to renew my green card and come back to States, my father is a US Citizen. Should he file a petition for my green card renewal? if so which one? Thank you |

I wish to inform you that your Green Card may have expired because of your stay outside USA. When a permanent resident goes abroad without returning resident visa or obtaining a re-entry permit then Green Card may be cancelled because you may have been thought to have abandoned your permanent residence status. However if you can justify your stay outside USA for reasons beyond your control then you can have your Green Card renewed and come back to USA. If you are unable to have Green Card then as your father is a US Citizen thus you may again apply US Green Card through your father.
