Depends on the service center and the type of application.

Go to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp and look for I-485 processing times under your jurisdiction.

US Green Card through ....

1) work is 3 years

2) relative is 10+ years

3) lottery is 2 years

4) special ability is 2 years

There's other ways to get a GC. Someone please double check these stats.

It will still be a couple of years at best if it goes like mine.

We have been waiting 6 years for My relatives green card. We called our local news casters and they came running, 2 papers took our story and now We are going to CNN. We called and emailed the president and He doesn't care a bit so now We will mention to CNN We tried to communicate to the president and He could care less and never wrote back. Our Daughter finished college but can't even work in the USA until uncle Sam says its ok. We were told it may be 3 more years but thats a matter of opinion. We have been told by the deputy of the INS that an american citizens child can get here in 2 years, what a lie. We were told American citizens can get their relatives here quickly on a top priority basis. Oh yeaah, if You consider 9+ years quick for a family member that has to live without Her family for 9+ years with NO clear mention of WHEN She MAY get here. Now I KNOW why people jump the boarder, pay $12,000 to get their documents and begin their life without the hastle of doing it "Legally" when they just want to live life here. Their is discrimination as to who gets green cards. I can QUOTE You want a VERY high govt official said to Me "If You had money, Your relative WOULD already be here" Now You tell Me that immigration is fair and I will tell You, You are a liar. The lottery is a scam and a crap shoot in the INS. You cannot tell My whole family that holding one member of a family from comming to the USA is "Fair"
it isn't. A ticked off tax payer who is looking to change the way things are done at the INS. Voting time is about to happen, hope some govt workers like the un-employment lines...

I am a US Citizen married abroad to a foreign national. I applied for the CR-1 visa for my husband and the total processing time has been 7 weeks. Our interview is next week. A total of 8 weeks from date of filing the I-131 to interview and hopefully visa approval.

I'm not sure why it's taking you 9+ years to get a visa unless there's something in the information you've provided which makes you ineligible. Or outright denied. Have you asked? What other steps have they provided you?
