My question is in respect to Section 112(2)(a) of the Maori Land Court Rules 1994 (New Zealand). In respect to placing notice (of a meeting) in a newspaper, it states:
"Shall insert at least twice, at intervals of not less than 7 days, a public notice in....." If notice was inserted in a newspaper on Saturday 1 January 2008 (assuming it was was printed at 2am) and then again on Saturday 8 January 2008 (assuming again a 2am print), is that an interval of 7 days? The definition of the word "Day" is a division of time consisting of 24hours. The above example shows there are 7 consecutive 24hour periods between 2am on 1 Jan 08 and 2am on 8 Jan 08. However, there are only 6 days of the week between each Saturday i.e Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Does the term "interval" as set out in section 112(2)(a) of the Maori Land Court Rules 1194 relate to days of the week? or 24hour periods? In short, does the example show an interval of 7 days or 6 days? Please advise. Thanks S |

Day would normally mean a full calendar day in between the days at issue.
So eg Monday plus seven equals Tuesday of the next week, But if critical check with your own local solicitor as well. |
