Default Roe v. Wade -- will this ever be overturned?

Does anyone really think this will ever be overturned or did we learn our lesson from all the deaths caused by Prohibition. I'm not in any way equating alcohol with abortion but when repealing a law chaos and crime reign supreme.

I wish to inform you that Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court. It dealt with the issue of abortion. The Court stated that a woman had a right to abortion until viability, which is placed between 24 weeks and 28 weeks. This decision of the Supreme Court raised a national debate as to what methods must be used by the Supreme Court in constitutional adjudication. Subsequently, many states have passed laws keeping in view the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned. If it is overturned, the overturning of the ban on alcohol can be kept in view. Prohibition was in place in US from 1920 to 1933. As a result of prohibition, criminal gangs and organizations grew.

People do not die from lack of access to alcohol. But they do die from botched, amateur or self-induced abortions. The struggle women have had for rights over their bodies and the all important decision whether to bear a child has taken centuries. With the current wave of ultra right conservatives now a majority in the Supreme Court, our US House of Representatives, and many states legislatures, there is an ongoing assault on women's reproductive rights. Over 150 bills have been introduced in state legislatures this past year restricting or trying to repeal women's rights to contraception and abortion.

There are medical reasons many women should not conceive or go through pregnancy. Having cancer is one for then chemotherapy and radiation are contra maintaining a pregnancy. Genetic problems, another. Physical condition of the mother, another. But the men who are vocally making the 'rules' for women's rights have no knowledge of the many reasons a particular woman should not go through pregnancy. Rape, incest, under age to maintain a pregnancy without severe drain on the body of a pre teen or teen -- these should be the choice of the woman.

Will Roe v. Wade be overturned? With the 5-4 super conservative tilt of the Supreme Court, this writer hopes it does not reach the high court. For since time eternal women have ended pregnancies they chose not to carry. Since Roe v. Wade they have been assured they can see their doctor and the decision made, rightfully so, between doctor and patient. And women have not had to die on someone's kitchen table or back alley. This writer just hopes this issue does not reach the Supreme Court until the makeup shifts. She finds it ironic that the same people, the far right, which waves the Constitution, individual liberty, and no regulation of the government in people's business and affairs, has no problem interjecting goverment regulation or prohibition into the most personal decision a woman has to make -- and over what she does with her body.

The SC has overruled themselves about 200 times since it's 1789 inception, mostly NON Landmark

While the Court has a strong tendency to abide by Stare Decisis, it is not an absolute doctrine.

I do not think it will be overturned. I am Pro Life myself, which I do not care to debate.

In the 1970's I sat in on an oral argument in the SC, and saw Harry Blackmun in person, all 9 were on the bench. including Warren Burger and Thurgood Marhsall.

Blackmun received death threats after the decision, since he authored it.

Considering who is Ch. Justice now, the odds are good for overturning if it reaches the bench.

Anyone who opposes abortion should not have one.
