Default Unincorporated, organized and unorganized US territories

Can someone please help me to understand this better.

I know which US territories are unincorporated, both organized and unorganised. But I'm having trouble understanding it. I have read the page about it on Wikipedia, I think I understand the unincorporated organized type a little more than the unorganized type, but I really need help understanding both of them.

I don't process legal or political information very well so please try n break it down as simple as possible.

I wish to inform you that organized incorporated territories are those territories which are a part of the United States and have an organized government authorized by an Organic Act of the US Congress. The organized government consists of a territorial legislature, territorial governor, and a basic judicial system. Most states in the US prior to being granted statehood were organized incorporated territories. Generally, the most populous parts would be granted statehood and the remainder would be renamed and continue as a territory. An example is Iowa territory to Dakota territory. The unorganized territory is a territory for which an organized government authorized by an Organic Act of the US Congress does not exist. These generally include Native American settlements and territories acquired by US.

Thanks AFFA,

I was actually refering to "Insular territiories" but didn't make that clear, sorry. Thanks for your reply.

I did more research on political divisions, since posting the question. I found the OIA website and along with other information on wikipedia, I understand it all now.

Thanks.
