Constitutional law query
Can anyone tell me ... Is it the normal practice in a Constitution that its provisions apply to ALL people living in the relevant country (including for example ex-pats) OR only to citizens of that country. In particular provisions in relation to individual rights and anti-discrimination ... do these protections normally apply to all or only to citizens? Thank you

You have posed an interesting question. In the US, most Constitutional provisions do apply to all within the borders of the country. For example, the protections afforded to criminal defendants (to remain silent, to avoid self-incrimination, to counsel, etc.) apply to citizens and non-citizens alike. So, if you query pertains to the States the answer would almost always generally be in the affirmative. AJJ

Noted thank you. I am interested in all countries with constitutions. What I am trying to do is put the constitution of Thailand (where I live) in some sort of context. The provisions of Thailand's constitution dealing with individual rights (Chapter III) only applies to Thai citizens.
