Confused 1st Amendment rights at elementary school

I was informed today by the prinicipal of my son's school that I would not be allowed to distribute the yearbook that I created and paid $4K for. She already advised me that I wouldn't be allowed to hand it out at school. Today she said that I wouldn't even be allowed to hand it out OFF CAMPUS, away from school.

She has an issue with cover. For 34 out of 36 years, we had a Crusader as the school's mascot. I used for a drawing of the Crusader for the cover. She approved the rest of the yearbook and wanted me to remove the Crusader. I refused to do so because this book is not school sponsored or paid for by the school. I showed it to her as a courtesy. She has intimidated me and tried pressuring me to change it. I have doubts that she has authority to tell me that I can not distribute it off campus. My question is can she take it away from the kids at school and not allow them to gather signatures? Do I have a lawsuit against the school if she attempted to do that. She absolutely does not want this book on the school's campus. PLEASE ADVISE soon, I have to turn in the draft to get it printed soon.

If it is your private project she cannot stop you from doing anything. But there could be a few copyright issues if you are using the school name and trademark--hopefully you had permisssion for that so that they cannot use that against you.
