Default Wish to get married

Intend on marrying US citizen. Looking for the easiest way to become legal
in US (currently spend most of my time with her in US). Can I remain here
during the process or must I remain in Canada. According to Canadian law we
are a common law couple and she is named as the beneficiary on my pension
documents.
