immigrant status for fiance/spouse
I am a US citizen, my fiance is from the Philippines and we are marrying in Dec. The USCIS website says there will be an immigrant visa number IMMEDIATELY available for spouses after they approve my petition (hopefully), but the Dep't of State website says there is an oversubscription of visas (class A2-spouses) from the Philippines so does this mean we need to wait after all? According to the data, it seems they are only processing numbers before June 2002, so are we waiting YEARS to get a number??? Can she come to the US and live with me as my spouse while waiting for the number?

YES THEY USSUALLY GIVE THEM A WORK PERMIT MEANWHILE HER GREENCARD IS BEING PROCESSED.
