Hi, I am a U.S. citizen my husband is an illegal immigrant. I would like to get him started to get permanent residency. The problem is that he has 3 misdemeanors for DUI and his father past away 5 yrs ago he went back to Mexico and when he tried coming back he got caught by border patrol. Would that be a problem for him? He took care of his DUI problems went to court served a little time paid his fees and went to all the required classes. We have been married for almost 6 yrs we have 4 children together and I have one child from a previous marriage but he has helped me raise him. I’ve had Diabetes for over 20yrs and till now this have started to get a liitle complicated with my vision and heart and kidneys. If something should ever happen to me I want us to be prepared. I would appreciate some advice.

It will be hard to legalize him under current law. But the Obama administration may change immigration law soon so keep an eye out.

You might meet with immigration counsel but if he entered illegally it is very hard to legalize him now.
