Advice needed on K-1 family visa

I currently live in PA but due to a financial situation caused by my expensive ($40,000 +) attempt to try to get a fiancee visa for the U.K., I will be moving to Alabama. My Scottish fiance and I have discussed it at length and have decided to try to get him a K-1 fiance visa granted. I have numerous serious medical problems, and do have a written statement from my doctor, certifying that it would be in my best interest to have my fiance join me here. Does anyone have any advice on how to help push this visa thru for him? The last time we saw each other was last August, and we don't have the money for him to come visit me now. Besides, we'd rather be together permanently, not just an occassional visit.
