Hi I entered the country on a j-1 visa in 2003... needless to say I overstayed. Since than though I've been living with my now husband. We just got married and we are expecting twins. Can somebody please let me know how to go about becoming legal. Also one other question if I'm right I have to apply for change of status which costs $1000. With the babies coming soon I highly doubt it I'll be able to have that amount soon. I was advised to apply for I-300 which is much cheaper and it's supposed to buy me some time. I tried calling INS few times to ask them what can I do, but got no one on the phone. The only people I was able to reach are lawyers who want a fee. I honestly don't think I'll need their help once I'm on the right path, since my marriage is absolutely legal....Please help me. What should my first step be?
