My brother called me and let me know that he was handed a subpoena for me to testify as a witness in a domestic abuse case (i'm the victim)
I don't want to testify. I live in Illinois I think the law states that I have to be handed the subpoena myself in order for me to be legally held to attend. Can I ignore this subpoena or can they give it to my brother? |

Check with your court clerk but normally it has to be given to you.
In a few jurisdictions an immediate family member living with you will suffice. |
