Lightbulb Common-Law marriage

Do we require any paper document-to state that we have a common-law marriage? Isn't just living together and known as husband and wife in the community enough? Can I put my partner's name on forms etc. where I am supposed to put my wife's name? Will that be challenged in any way? Please explain to me the pros and cons of a common-law marriage as compared to a registered marriage. Can I go ahead and have a child if I just have a common-law marriage? What can I do to proove if and ever anyone challenges our marriage? I am much worried please help.I live in the state of Michingan.

You may want to consult a local lawyer to review what your status is and how your property and other rights now exist--and you may want to formalize some of that.
