the man I am going to marry, has a house going in foreclosure. I need to know if this can come back on me and my property if we get married

Yes, it can. You should wait until after the foreclosure is final before getting married. You should also have a pre-nup drawn up that specifies that the debt was/is a personal debt owed before marriage. My sister recently went through this after her husband died of cancer. She has been ordered to pay her late husband's debt that was incurred before thier marriage only because she did not probate the estate. So it's extremely important to have the pre-nup in case of a divorce, and to probate the estate if the unthinkable were to happen. |
