I have been married for 18 years, the woman I married had a 4 year old son from her fiirst marriage. I raised and supported him for 14 years.I talked to him about adopting him legally he said don't waste your money, your my dad and thats all there is to that .Then he started using my last name on everything,Drivers License,Social Security, ect. He past away at 23 years old and left a business behind. My wife and I are getting a divorce and now she is saying I don't get anything of his inheritance because I never really adopted him legally and I wasn't his biological father. Is this true don't I get any credit for raising and suppoting him.To me he is my son no matter what. But can my wife use that against me in our divorce?I live in California.

It may be difficult.
The state's rules will apply if there was no will. And you may not be eligible. But have a lawyer review your details and confirm |
