as a 24 yr old in sc...w/ a bro who moved out at 17. i know for sure there is nothing they will do to you. even if you are investigated by dss; etc there is nothing you can do. my mom tried to get everyone involved bc she didn't like that my bro lived w/ his gf & her parents. everyone told her it was none of her business bc they weren't doing anything wrong. he's old enuf 2 make his own decision. sooo if your 17 in sc; move out. but i would advise it only if there is a BAD situation at home and you have no other choice. there are facilities to help you tho. especially if your'e bein abused or other...get help.

I want to know why in the world these kids want to move out and be on there own. As bad as you think you may have it living with your parents, trust me when I say it is better than being in the real world with real bills and real responsibility. I'm sure there are a few cases where a near adult teen may be better on their own than with their parents, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of you just want to leave so you don't have to listen to your parents, and you will probably do illegal activity at your own whims if this happens. I was the same way 10 years ago. Looking back at it now I wish I would've taken advantage of the free rent, free food, free everything.

One more thing. If you don't have enough initiative to do a google search to find out how old you have to be to move out, you probably aren't ready to move out.
I'm done now. |

...I gotta agree with this, hands down. No time like the present to start learing how to navigate the real world. |
