Help I am trying to gain Custody of my Niece who is in CPS custody!!!!
I really could use anyones help with this matter. I have filed a pettition with the Judicial Court Service unit to get custody of my 15 year old niece. She and her three sisters where taken from my sisters care about three weeks ago. I have not been able to contact any of the children. However, my niece has been contacting me. The foster family she is staying with is allowing her to contact me. I do not know what my rigths are as far as talking with the child. If anyone can give me some advice as to what I need to do. I have hit a wall and feel as though all hope is lost in getting her out of this. If it helps this is not the fisrt time that my sister has had her children taken away from her. The first time was in 2005. Family members tried to get the children out of CPS but they gave them back to my sister after 6 months. Now here we are and as you can see I need all the help I can get. Please anyone out there if you can give me any advice at all please contact me. I need legal advice as well to help in getting her custody. I have the fathers permission for doing this he feels that it is in the best of his child that she be in a safe and clean enviroment. Again please if you can help contact me. Thank you...

If you have'nt already, sit down with your sister and chop it up, ask her how
can you help her ? help her kids? I personally would let her know that if the child was in your custody she would not only be able to see her when she want's to but also because then they will be with family. Being in a foster home is not always a good thing, some foster parent's are good and some just do it to get paid.... My oldest sister had the same thing happen to her, CPS took her kids and she never got them back, my point is the children can either gain from this situation and have good caring people take them in, or they can truly be damaged by it for the rest of their lives. Being shift from one home to another and never having a real home or family really can hurt their little hearts, God bless them and you for caring for them. My nieces unfortunately are very unhappy with their mother, in fact they pretty much hate her. My youngest niece was only twelve years old when she was raped from her foster brother, and now she's a mother at sixteen please tell your sister don't let that happen to her children... Because like my nieces, they will never forgive her. I hope that I have helped you, and I will be willing to talk to you anytime. Once again God bless you and your nieces. |

I'm not a lawyer but know alot bout the law, been there going through tht, getting custody through CPS is difficult usually they setthe children up with one of the family nd there is an obvious reason why they are taken you can not get that information how come they were taken i am also curious to why the child was not put in the care of her father? in any cse you cnonly spek to the prties involved and ask if you may petition CPS to assess you and grant you the child
