THIS ONE IS UNIQUE! I HOPE SOMEONE CAN ANSWER ME.
I loved and married a charming British National in 2001. We met on the Internet, and he immigrated to America under my sponsorship; we lived together in my Florida home for 4 years. He never told me that he was currently married to a European woman. He divorced her in 2004 and left me in 2005 to live with this girlfriend he found here. We remained "married" until his death. Did I become legally married to him upon his divorce in 2004? His girlfriend dumped him in 2006 after he ran out of money trying to keep her; then he blew his brains out. Too bad...so sad. Perhaps he learned that he would be deported for immigration fraud. Or perhaps he learned what a fool he became. Am I considered to be his legal widow? Or does his bigamy negate our marital status even though he divorced the other wife during OUR marriage? I need to know if I am eligible for his company pensions and national security benefits in Europe as his legal wife. |

Normally bigamy negates the marriage.
Get legal counsel to try to override the general rule. |
