My step dad married my mother in 72. My mother passed away in 2003 and my step dad's niece volunteered to keep my stepfather and care for him due to the fact they could afford to build him his own house on their land. I just found out my step dad has been placed in a nursing home and is no longer in his niece's care. She will not tell me where he is, nor will she let me bring him up to where I live. She has gotten him to put her on all his financial dealings and I would like to know where I stand as far as being a step daughter. Do I have more rights as a step daughter than she as his niece?
Please help Thanks |

Not more, but you may have some rights. How long has it been since you have seen him?

I write him a couple of times a month, and I saw him last summer. He is hard of hearing and doesn't like to hang around people so I respect that and write him only. He still calls me his honey and tells (told) me he loves me.
i am just not sure what rights she has since her name is on the financial stuff now. Not sure if I am stll in his will. Thanks for responding |

im sorry, but you have no rights at all. his niece is a legal relative, you are a legal stranger, and his niece is not obligated to tell you anything. |

So in the legal world, "step" doesn't give you any rights? He has been my step dad, better known as my dad, for over 30 years.
I guess even if I do find him, it won't do any good? rats |

Was he mentally competent when he made his new will and put her on the papers?
