Do we, as the maternal grandparents, have any legal rights regarding visitation

Our two Grandchildren are in the legal custody of their paternal grandparents. Do we, as the maternal grandparents, have any legal rights regarding visitation, etc.?

Hi there. Unfortunately, there is no way to give you a firm answer without knowing your jurisdiction (state). Speaking generally, yes you would usually have some visitation rights, although these do not work automatically. In other words, you would have to go to Court to enforce them. This is a tricky area of the law made more complex by a fairly recent U.S.S.C. ruling.
