I have a US court order that my ex who lives in Canada is to have a life insurance policy in my name. Will there be a problem upon his death that this is a USA order and the policy is in Ontario,Canada? Also he is to provide me with a pledge of property of the same amount. The property would be in Canada with a US order also. I am US resident. Will these orders be honered in Canada? We were married for 20 years, lived in USA and devorced in Minnesota,USA. Me being a USA citizen and resident and him being a Canadain and he went back to Canada.

Eventually they can be enforced through the US order, but there will be some possible defenses as well. Best to try to get the Canadian courts to give the order now as well.
