Can A woman add a man to Babies Birth certficate w/o his consent? ONTARIO, CA

My husband had a one night stand with a woman back in 2001.
To his knowledge she was also involved with other men. She told him she was pregnant in 2001 at which time she also told him that she was going to have the child, but that she wanted nothing from him.
He questioned the paternity of the baby and said he also wished to have nothing to do with the situation as he did not know the true paternity of the child-to-be.
Over the years, she has harrased us from time to time about the child, each time having my husband deny the child as being his. She would not consent to paternity test in the past, just kept calling and asking for money periodically.
Now she says that she will be asking the court for child support and back pay.
My husband has never acknowleged the child nor did he sign any statement of live birth.

Is there anyway he could be listed on the birth certificate?
Is there a way that he will be made to pay for the child not really knowing if this is his child???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Based on my experience, all he has to do is establish paternity, or disprove paternity, through the use of a paternity test. If it is disproven, he isn't forced to pay anything, and, I believe, his name would be removed...

I'm no lawyer though.

She cannot legally list a father without his knowledge or permission on the birth certificate.
