Default Lawyer Fees

Hi,
I am currently up to 6,000 in lawyer fees and nothing has been done other than a bunch of papers back andforth from each lawyer and faxing and a few consultations. I cannot afford these lawyer fees and do not qualify for legal aid. Can I get my Ex to pay for my lawyer fees or half of them, being that he was the one who wanted out of the marriage and I was basically forced to seek an attorney.? Or do I have to pay the lawyer? Can a judge rule him to pay? Even after I considered to reconcile and he did not??

You can try. It may not happen, but you can file for that request. In the meantime, if you attorney is doing nothing for you other than lip service and charging you for it, fire him/her and get a more competent attorney.

Also consider some flat fee arrangements for a hearing on each issue.
